World Trade Center

Done in 2001, now I am re-doing. 24" x 20" and now started on 9/11/11 to size 72" x 108" , I get emotional when I paint the people hurring down the stairs . I delight when I paint them floating in the light blue up,,.... heaven then feels real.

Vampire Tears

I have to try everything so it is that I did 12 hour Night Shifts. Each night, as I went onto the floor I had a plan to do one little thing better than I have before. This night, of Vampire Tears I chose Endocrine so if I found a patient with orders for thyroid meds (thyroid is in the front neck) I would do a more focused assessment to see if I could observe visually a physically change from normal appearance.

A post op patient presented needing thyroid medication. After I checked the major wound from surgery, which happened to be an abdominal surgical site,  I observed her neck. I saw something strange on one side of the neck but couldn’t figure it out- was it a hickey?? Was it something to do with surgery? A bruise on the neck?? I asked her to turn her head while I got my flashlight out to examine in light… I saw two punctures with drops of blood coming out… the patient laughed as my eyes widened!!  and widened more ! Oh you see my vampire bite!! What !!! before I could get upset or laugh or even panic I saw the blood was not enough of a blood color that all nurses recognize … I had to smile, a good smile for a very realistic Tattoo.

Chance

What is the common element in the work? At Esty.com I found a great link to a 2 hr lecture on "running an indie art business" held at the Maryland College of Art. I will have to listen to it again tomorrow when I am in the studio. Branding. What is the common element... Chance. I have been trying to explain each of the artworks in terms of the relationship to chance, it is working. I will post soon.
Feeling a bit depressed today, the terrible stuff in Japan. I had a bad morning when I heard a warning that was misinformation that the coast of florida was in danger... it brought bad the trade center to me.

no posts in a while so thought it do a quick 1 ,I feel I have no solid directions for selling some of this stuff I just keep painting ,painting painting and painting . techniques are challenging and interesting and subject matter has infinite possibilities . I need challenging directions, I'm making all this art and
Never selling anything or having anyone collect it , is hard. I get blown away when I see a new great technique , with interest in the figure it makes me interested in the new york academy , I don't think I need to go there because I want to pennsylvania academy , I get it , try , work work work work through the challenges of flesh.
