Diana the Huntress, 2017
Oil on canvas, string and glitter
16" x 16"

One needs to look no further for a mythological figure of a strong and independant female than to my friend Diana. She is a strong and aims straight.

With the art business dominated by males I have been given a challenging road. One way I overcome this "handicap" is to embrace finding something new and putting myself out there in it. I am building something strong and physical in a community and hope to engage some art lovers too.
The challenge is to make interesting two dimensional images live in a 3 dimensional space.  I have witnessed many female colleagues turn to sculpture but I adore color and painting!
An early example can be reviewed in my 3 D Web series. (old painful VHS on youtube link). I did many of these webs in multiple cities; the passerby crowd loved helping. The project brought attention to the painting subject which, at the time, was paintings of webs in a series of paintings. It was also a great deal of fun sharing thoughts on the various ideas that come with site or environment art.

Today I plan to explore that space again and here upload my drawing plan for a piece on Diana. It will work in space, with community and incorporate new technology.

As a footnote thought- females exhibit a more cerebral aptitude from their young age and the male is more at home in the physical...  as I work this new physical project I will curate an exhibit of Mythological paintings near the launch site.
I will be of an androgynous mindset.
      It will succeed.
