Hurricaine Irma

Hurricane Irma
2017
Oil on canvas
36" x 36"

During the fall of 2017 I experienced my 1st encounter with hurricanes. I am now more afraid of tornados then the winds that come all at one time and are buffered by trees and the amount of land between the gulf and my home.
As the TV kept showing the map of Florida; an image of the map from above etched into my very reactive mind, all day and evening, as the storm approached.
The imagery needed to be expressed and I hoped I was going to be around to do some work on this inspiration/experience.  I felt everyone was indeed praying for me, as well as messages in text, phone and facebook-  they really were heartfelt...which scared me most. I took reflective thoughts of my life; cried for fear of the unknown. I kept seeing this luminous strangely colorful center of the storm.
Keeping my prayers connecting to my guardian angel, I pleaded to please move the storm a little inland so that the storm would not strengthen over the warm gulf waters.
      He saw to it.
